It’s Grilling Season!Up Your BBQ Game!

We wait all winter for this. It’s grilling season again! Charcoal, gas, hardwood – it’s all good! We get to cook outdoors again with the trees budding and the birds chirping. The intoxicating smells of food on fire make the neighbors jealous and the family salivate. There is a happiness and lightness to that first grilling day of the season. Breathing in the warmer air – it’s always memorable. There is also the awakened vibration of our hindbrains, moved by the blood memories of ancient humans gathering around the fire to cook and congregate. As a species, we have been grilling for a very long time.
Of course, we have goofy, pun-laden chef aprons and high tech grilling utensils and accoutrements these days, but the basics have remained the same. Tasty food - well-seasoned, kissed by flame, imbued with smoke, prepared and eaten outside. Yay!
Burgers and dogs are great! They are mainstays and necessities. But there are so many other wonderful things that can be grilled. How about ribs and chicken? Shrimp and scallops are spectacular and cook so quickly you’ll be eating in no time. Prefer a plant-based protein? Tempeh is a delicious and satisfying grillable. And let’s not forget the bounty and variety vegetable skewers bring to the party. (Check out the recipes for all these dishes in our Recipes section.) |

Ajvar is a VIP culinary multi-tasker! Is it a sauce? A dip? A spread? YES! And it is delicious! Slather on burgers and sandwiches. Dip your chips into it. Brush it onto grilled corn on the cob before sprinkling with cheese. And Shatta – it’s how the Mediterranean does hot sauce! Any time you would use hot sauce, try Shatta. It has just the right balance of heat and flavor.
Now let’s talk a little about barbeque sauce. You can buy any number of prepared sauces, but why not try making your own? We’ve come up with a recipe that is unfussy, uncomplicated, and unbelievable! Made with pantry pull ingredients, it couldn’t be easier – and you are in control. We’ve incorporated Wildfare Fire-Roasted Red Pepper Ajvar and Wildfare Shatta into our recipe.
BBQ sauce is a finessed balance of heat, sweet, and tang. It’s also personal, so you should adjust the ingredient proportions to get to your personal BBQ joy. Try our Wildfare Barbeque Sauce recipe - but make it your own. Enjoy a sauce with no artificial flavors or colors and no preservatives. It goes great on all the grillables mentioned above and more. |
