Spicy Baked Ziti

Comfort food fans, this one is for you! We made it easy to enjoy the simple pleasure of carb consumption. Classic ziti is kicked up a notch with our Shatta hot sauce, then baked with your favorite pasta sauce until golden with perfectly salty grated Pecorino Romano, creamy ricotta, and shredded mozz and provolone to make an ooey, gooey, and satisfying meal!
INGREDIENTS
- 16 oz ziti
- 1-2 Tbsp Wildfare Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2-3 Tbsp of Wildfare Shatta depending on how spicy you like it!
- 1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce
- ¼ C grated Pecorino Romano
- 7 oz ricotta
- 1 egg
- 6 oz shredded mozzarella
- 8 oz shredded provolone
- Salt & pepper
PREPARATION

In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil and season with salt. Add the ziti and cook to al dente, according to package instructions.

Save about half a cup of the pasta water just before straining pasta. While pasta is cooking, mix the ricotta, Pecorino Romano, and egg in a small bowl. Salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, add the pasta, the desired amount of Wildfare Shatta hot sauce, pasta sauce, ¾ of the shredded mozzarella, ¾ of the shredded provolone, and the pasta water (start with ¼ cup and if you think it needs more liquid, add the rest). Mix together until evenly distributed.

Drizzle 1-2 Tbsp Wildfare EVOO to coat the bottom of a large casserole dish. Add half of the pasta mixture. Add dollops of the ricotta mixture and spread evenly over the pasta.

Then add the remaining pasta mixture and sprinkle with the remaining shredded mozzarella and shredded provolone. Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Let it rest for about 5-10 minutes prior to serving. Enjoy!
